Cold Laser Therapy
The Animal & Bird Medical Center of Palm Harbor has had cold laser therapy services since June. The cold laser promotes healing and decreases pain from injuries and surgical procedures with the deep-penetrating light, which causes a release of endorphins and stimulates the cells, which is integral in the healing process. Several disorders respond positively to the use of our cold laser. Patients suffering from arthritis, hard to treat skin problems, otitis, and post-surgery have been helped. This is only a small list of illnesses the cold laser treatment works on.
Animal & Bird Medical Center is one of only a handful of hospitals in the nation that offer cold laser therapy. Dr. Murphy and his veterinary technicians are trained in the proper use so it is safe for your pet to have treatment. We encourage you to be present so you can see how the laser works with gentle, wide sweeps over the affected area. Cold laser is so effective that it is used by the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Because it induces faster healing, we use it to promote pain relief from surgeries such as declaws, cruciate surgery, and other surgical procedures. Your four-legged family member can get relief from the sting or bite of insects and other forms of inflammation such as arthritis. Cuts (lacerations) and scrapes (abrasions) can noticeably heal faster. Dr. Murphy advocates its use in wound care management.
Cold laser therapy is an alternative modality used with or without medications as well as traditional treatments. With this ability to improve the quality of your pet’s life, you will gain a happier pet. Come into our office to pick up a brochure and learn more about this innovative option.
